Anna Smith

Anna Smith is in her fourth year at Shenandoah Conservatory, studying harp with Ms. Lynnelle Ediger and organ with Dr. Wayne Wold. She currently serves as the Organ Scholar at Trinity Episcopal Church in Upperville, Virginia. An active member of the American Guild of Organists, she serves on the board of the D.C. Chapter as their Young Organist Coordinator. Through the AGO, Anna has participated in masterclasses with world-renowned concert organists and educators: Thierry Escaich, James O’Donnell, and Dr. Mary-Beth Bennett. This Summer, Anna was selected to participate in the Yale Summer Organ Academy, where she studied with world-renowned professors including Ken Cowan, Carole Terry, James O’Donnell, and Martin Jean. While there, she had the opportunity to perform in concerts on the Yale campus on the Holtkamp organ in Battell Chapel. This past Spring, Anna was one of ten organists chosen to perform on the 49th Annual Bach Marathon at Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church. Other recent performances include a solo recital of harp and organ works at Trinity Episcopal Church, an organ recital on the 1804 Tannenberg Organ located in the York Historical Center, and a harp recital of works by Italian composers at Casa Italiana Language School in D.C. Also an aspiring conductor, Anna is the founder and artistic director of the Shenandoah Valley String Orchestra. Fueled by Shenandoah Conservatory’s leading musicians, the ensemble has performed famous works in the string orchestra repertoire by Tchaikovsky, Barber, Bach, and Suk. Previously, Anna participated in the New York Conducting Workshop and Respighi Competition where she conducted the New York Chamber Orchestra through works by Mahler, Wagner, and Gershwin. As a versatile instrumentalist, Anna is committed to bringing the timeless works of each repertoire to life and exploring innovative collaborations that expand and celebrate the repertoire for harp and organ duets.
